Pros:
-The battery seems to last forever. I haven't used it a whole lot, but I haven't charged it since my use and have put about 3 sheets of nails through it without any signs of slowing down.
-Powerful, now I don't have a metric to compare this to a gas or mains powered brad nailer, but this definitely seems powerful.
-Easy to load up, really hard to screw this up, instead of with like a manual nail gun, the whole side slides open and you can lay the nails down. Sometimes with those brad nail staple gun combos, especially in the brad mode, it's hard to put the nails in.
Cons:
-Heavy and bulky, This was where I noticed the ugliness coming into play. I ran into a lot of instances where I couldn't disengage the safety mechanism to allow the nail to fire. I was trying to re-attach the crown on a cabinet unit that came with my house but I had to get into the groove and the nailer wouldn't fit. Also due to the large forehead on it, makes it not great if you need to nail in a corner, like for crown molding and base boards.
-I can't find an "offset" mode. Like maybe this is just me being weird and having weir requests, but what if I wanted the nail to stick out of the wood by like and 1/8th of an inch or a 1/4, to then bend over? I didn't see an option for that.
-Missed Nails: this thing is sometimes oddly inconsistent, and was made very clear in the attic. I was covering up the "air vents" on the sides of my house in my attic and needing to make a bunch of quick nailings. And it was getting pretty bad like 5-7 of every 10 nailing attempts failed. Opened the side to see if I was out of nails, but there was still half a sleeve in it. SO... that wasn't the issue.
-ANNOYING "trigger reset". Now I'm not a gun-nut or aficionado or anything and is only a term I learned after taking a safety course as a first time owner. And ever since then, became quite aware about how many gadgets rely on this safety feature. This being one of them. I think this explains the "missed nails" issue as well. Seems like you have to completely remove the finger from the trigger and then re-press it. Seems like ANY amount of pressure felt on the trigger even if you think it's not even be depressed, prevents it from firing but makes all the sounds like it fired off a nail.
Conclusion:
Am I glad I bought it? Yes. Do I love it, NO. The build is there, and maybe these quirks are par for the course with this item and could be a first-time-owner ignorance. You know like how some items are just naturally and always quirky no matter who makes them or what price you pay for, this might be just one of those. I think DeWalt lived up to their claims, delivered on what they promised, and it is OBJECTIVELY a good product. Even though, PERSONALLY this is more of a 3/5 product. I gave it 4/5 since I don't think the fault can be placed on DeWalt and is 100% me and my quirks and ignorance on what is "Normal" for his tool.
Mine has jammed when it was running low on nails, but was easy to clear out.
